Playground Of The Mind

The old man went walking in the city park one summer day,
He passed by where all the little children were at play,
The little boy inside him wishes he could join in their fun,
Inside him that little boy longing to once more jump and run,

He sits on a bench and his mind takes to his youthful days once more,
He becomes Captain Kidd the pirate on his ship off the Caribbean shores,
His ship with the Jolly Roger flying and cannons booming joins in battle,
The old ears filled with the crack of muskets and the sabers rattle,

As he sits there lost in the playground of his mind,
Those fond memories of his boyhood he once again finds,
Then he feels the tug of a little hand and a voice asking, “mister are you ok”?
He slowly opens his eyes and answers, “yes my boy I was lost in play”,

Then the old man gets up and slowly walks down the cobbled path,
He smiles as he hears the sound of children as they play and laugh,
The little boy watches as the old man walks away,
“ Give em no quarter mates” the little boy heard him say,

Age limits the body’s ability but if you stop and look you will find,
You can also jump and run again if you will only use your mind.
